President, Federation of Self Financing Technical Institutions (FSFTI), All India, and the Punjab Unaided Colleges Association (PUCA), and Chairman of Aryans Group of Colleges, Rajpura (near Chandigarh), Dr Anshu Kataria has urged the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to approach the Supreme Court to seek an extension of the admission deadline for technical courses from 14 September to 30 October 2026.
Dr. Kataria said FSFTI had secured relief from the Court for pharmacy admissions till 30th Oct. He noted that admissions to courses under the Indian Nursing Council (INC) and the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP) are open until 31 October, while similar relief has not been granted for AICTE courses.
He said the earlier deadline could affect around 10,000 technical colleges and thousands of students seeking admission. According to him, approximately 15–25% of seats in Engineering, MBA, BBA and BCA courses remain vacant.
Dr. Kataria urged AICTE to place the matter before the Supreme Court as an exceptional case. Delayed counselling and results, the re-conduct of NEET, and other circumstances have prevented many students from securing admission, he said.
