Move may benefit 8–10 lakh students nationwide; petitions cover AICTE, PCI, UGC and NCAHP-regulated courses

Renowned educationist Dr. Anshu Kataria, President, Federation of Self-Financing Technical Institutions (FSFTI) & Punjab Unaided Colleges Association (PUCA) and Chairman, Aryans Group of Colleges, has approached the Hon’ble Supreme Court seeking extension of the nationwide admission cut-off till October 30.
Dr. Kataria said the extension could provide major relief to nearly 8–10 lakh students & approx 20,000 private colleges across the country who are still awaiting admission opportunities in professional and higher education courses.
A petition seeking extension of the admission deadline till October 30 for professional courses regulated by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has already been filed before the Apex Court.
A separate writ petition covering courses under the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP) is also being filed shortly.
Dr. Kataria said that students should not lose an entire academic year because of delayed counselling, pending affiliations, approvals, procedural issues or other circumstances beyond their control.
It is to be mentioned that for the past 4–5 years, Kataria has consistently taken up the issue of admission deadline extensions before the Apex Court and has succeeded in securing favourable relief in previous academic sessions in the larger interest of students.
